How nutrition and athletic performance are related is that when an athlete is trying to do their best they, got to have the best food for them like plenty of water, healthy foods and etc... It is important to get enough rest before a big game/race because you have to have enough energy to do your best, if you're tired and sluggish you might lose the whole game/race.
